RIP OFF! BAIT AND SWITCH! *WARNING* UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS ***

I put in an order for $953 and was told that I'd get $162 rebate if I joined the VIP program... which I did.
I KNEW it would be difficult to negotiate all the roadblocks and indeed instructions didn't come on how to redeem the rebate until 3 to 4 weeks after the purchase. I CAREFULLY followed all instructions, EVERY DETAIL (must have date and tax and item description etc etc) and the receipt I was sent online... and MONTHS LATER I finally call and say "where's the rebate" - They check and noted that it was declined "due to lack of information" but they didn't say what (operator on the phone didn't know). I logged and and checked and the same thing - no indication of why it was decline or what was missing. I assure you I followed the instructions to the Tee and double-checked everything. I mean, what else would you need to submit besides the receipt showing date, items, tax total prices etc etc? It was a disingenuous offer to Join VIP - so INSTEAD OF SAVING MONEY, IT COST ME YET MORE TO COMPLETE MY ORDER (due to the VIP membership fee) - DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS!

Do NOT order from this company!

I ordered a gift for father's day and paid extra for next day shipping. After waiting five days I got an email stating my package would be here in another week! Customer service was COMPLETELY useless. Do not waste your time or money on this terrible company!

Unethical Company

I bought an expensive dog cage because of a rebate offered which covered shipping and was 20% of the cost totaling $361.00. I had to provide a ridiculous amount of documentation and submit on their portal. I called one month after submitting documentation and was told it was in the review phase. I followed up a month later and was told that the rebate had expired and they had no record of my submission. These are dishonest and unscrupulous people. Do not waste your timer and effort.

Horrible Customer Service

Order finally came 2 months late. Not as pictured. Website says to return something use their fedex delivery with prepaid label. Yet there is no way to get one. Called customer service multiple times. Finally got someone who said they have requested a return label and it will be sent to me in 10 days. I asked why they couldn't just email it. She said, ok. What is your email. I said, You don't have it with my order information? She found it. Now it's a wait and see.

No postage refund on returns

I ordered Animals Matter Companion Oversized car seat for Christmas for my 2 Shih Tzus. After a couple weeks I hadn't received any email information about my order so I reordered it. I finally received my order a few weeks later and was delighted! A week later I received an identical order and I followed the instructions included to return it. My husband took it to UPS and they wanted $96 postage, so he brought it back home. He then took it to our local post office and they too wanted $96 postage! And was told that because of the size of the box, they charge according to how much room the box takes on a truck for shipping. Having no use for 2 car seats, he paid the postage and returned the item. I contacted In the Company of Dogs customer service and was told they do not refund postage for anything returned. I'm 73 yr. Old and on a fixed income and $96 is a great deal of money to pay to return an item. I have ordered from them in the past and was very satisfied, but in the future I will order from Amazon, as they do not charge postage for returns and items can be returned locally.

Zero stars

The worst experience ordering. Online is nonfunctional. Tried to place an order and it wouldn't go into shopping cart despite my choosing color of item and size. Kept saying make your selection. Did that many times with no luck. Calling in order took forever. 1st person disconnected us. 2nd call the Sales associate trying to sell other products despite my reiterating no thank you, I need 1 collar only. Then proceeds to give me a sales pitch about becoming a vip member. Again, no thank you. Am in a rush and this has taken too long. Finally after telling her to stop selling and finish my order and that I will have to hang up if she continues pressuring me, she's still going on. All my order had been completed and credit card info given but had to cut her off by hanging up. Get an email stating here's your order# but there's no order. Canceled catalogs. Never shop there again! One star rating because 0 wasn't an option!

VIP club subscription scam

I will never order from this company again as they trick you into signing up for a subscription for free shipping for $15 dollars a month. They offer free shipping when you place your order, but the very fine print says you are joining their "club" for $15/month. They know most people will click on free shipping and not be aware they are signing up for a monthly fee. They had been charging $15 on my card every month for a while and I never got an email from them about any renewals or what exactly I was getting from them for being in their VIP club. Its a scam and they are purposely deceiving people.

Unfortunately another terrible experience

Placed an order in July 2021, with on indication that the item was backordered. Over a month later, finally was informed that it was on backorder, at which point I requested that it be canceled... but they subsequently tell me that it has already drop shipped from the manufacturer. Clearly not true, because two weeks LATER, still no shipment, and another week after that, I a second email telling me that the item was still on backorder and that I could cancel it! The next day? Shipped! So after 2 months, I finally have an item that I don't want. I request a return, they tell me that's fine, so I return it. A week after they've received it, still no refund. I call and they tell me it will take 4-6 WEEKS to get my refund! Moreover, they're not giving me a run around about the substantial ($60) return costs, which I think they should clearly pay at this point!

NEVER EVER EVER will I purchase through this company. While all of this was happening, I ordered a nearly identical product from Amazon, got it in 2 days. Should have done that in the first place.

Disappointing Experience

Customer service DID NOT live up to In the Company of Dogs' satisfaction guarantee! If only they would put the same effort into their order tracking and customer service office as they do with curating and marketing their charming catalog! Upon placing my order I received an email that the dog bed I ordered had shipped UPS Next Day and a tracking number. The link to UPS tracking returned a page saying that the tracking # was invalid. After a week, I sent 2 email inquiries to Customer Service. No response. Finally I reached a very defensive CS agent by phone. She offered no apology. On reflection, she probably is exhausted fielding many many calls like mine, some no doubt a lot less calm and patient than I was. She tried to blame the 3rd party vendor for fulfillment delays due to COVID. I pointed out that her vendor claimed to have shipped. Because I insisted, she dug in and found out the shipper was NOT UPS, but actually FedEx, and Ground, not Next Day. When she asked (again) if there was anything else she could do for me, I asked her to pass on the issue of emailing me wrong shipper, wrong link to tracking & leading me to expect a next day delivery. She refused "because the call was being recorded." Meanwhile, I received daily and sometimes twice daily marketing emails, much of that time while still wondering where my order was! Today's email asking for a review was the last straw. Love the catalog, but will NOT order again!

They trick you into joining their "Club

There's a reason this company has over 100 reviews and they are rated as 1 star. They are extremely dishonest, particularly about how they trick people into signing up for their "club" at $15 a month. They offer you a shipping rebate and 10% off when you place your order, but the very fine print says you are joining their "club" for $15/month. And if you read other reviews for this company you will see I'm not the only that fell for this little ruse. At a minimum, they should know people are signing up for this by accident and change their site to make it more clear. The fact that they dont do that validates my assertion that they're doing it on purpose.
